Neupogen (filgrastim) is a man-made form used in the treatment of neutropenia where a lack of certain white blood cells caused by cancer, bone marrow transplant, receiving chemotherapy, or other conditions.
Uses of Neupogen (filgrastim)
Neupogen used as a supplement when there is:
- A lack of certain white blood cells caused by cancer.
- Bone marrow transplant.
- Receiving chemotherapy.
- to treat neutropenia.
Side effects of Neupogen (filgrastim)
Get medical help if any following signs of an adverse reaction to Neupogen:
- Hives.
- Sweating.
- Dizziness.
- Fast heart rate.
- Wheezing.
- Difficult breathing.
- Swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Neupogen may cause the spleen to enlarged and it could rupture (tear). Stop using Neupogen and consult your doctor at once if you have:
- Fever.
- Tiredness
- Stomach pain or back pain.
- Rapid breathing.
- Feeling short of breath or pain while breathing;
- capillary leak syndrome.
- kidney problems(little or no urinating, blood in your urine, swelling in your face or ankles)
- low red blood cells (anemia).
- Signs of infection
Common Neupogen side effects may include:
- fever, cough.
- Trouble breathing;
- Nosebleeds.
- Bone pain.
- Muscle or joint pain.
- diarrhea, headache.
- numbness or rash, thinning hair.
Precautions
- Make sure you are not allergic to Neupogen (filgrastim).
